Blue Moon Farm is currently seeking one or two employees to assist at our
booths on Saturdays at the Lexington Farmers' Market, Vine Street,
beginning April 11th, 2009.  (Sundays are a possibility too)
We are a husband/wife operation who rely primarily on the market for our yearly income,  and as such are looking for someone who will understand the seriousness of this in light of the fun and festival atmosphere of the market.  We do have fun, but first and foremost we are there to earn our living.

A partial job description follows:

• Hours from 7AM til noon or later, depending on how busy we are.  We expect you to arrive promptly at 7, dressed neatly, but casually.  We also ask you to be there every Saturday barring illness or emergency.
• Experience in retail and money handling preferable.
• Must enjoy working with the public.  We serve an interesting and extremely varied clientele, and treat them as our friends.  They are having fun at the market, and our job is to see that they find what they're looking for while enjoying themselves.  "No problem" is not spoken in our booth in answer to "thank you"!!
• The first job every morning is set-up.  Unlike other retail establishments, we have to "build" our store every day, from setting up our tents and tables, to weatherproofing ourselves when necessary, filling baskets with produce, stocking shelves and putting out signage.  This is our backbone and needs to be accomplished before large numbers of customers arrive.
• We sell quality products from other Kentucky producers as well as our own produce and products.  Part of your job may be to help ferry breads and pastries from Sunrise Bakery (Main St.).  We sell meats as well as vegetables.
• During the business day you will be expected to serve customers, keep shelves stocked, and generally be aware of the booth and how things look....tidying up when necessary.
• Interest in small family farms, local farms, sustainable agriculture, good food (especially garlic!) and cooking is a real plus.  Our customers LOVE to talk food!
• We appreciate input into how we could do something better....in display, in advertising, in serving our customers.  So a good inventive mind is a plus!
• We want you to feel as if you are a real part of our business, because you will be!
• References required.
